HOPE HOUSE ORPHANAGE
Hope House is an orphanage in the Northern Ugandan town of Gulu. This part of the country has become a place of refuge for the victims of the country?s brutal 20 year war that has brought unprecedented devastation to its youth. At night tens of thousands of orphans sleep together underground to hide from the rebel guerrillas who have abducted over 30,000 children since 1998.
The caregivers at Hope House are working to see these children loved, healed and given a stable family environment. They are believing these children will make important contributions to their country?s reconstruction.
Future vision includes: 1.) the development of a desperately needed pre-school within the home, with plans to expand to upper grade levels, 2.) a 10-acre children?s village with small, family-style homes of 8-10 children with a widow as a house-mother; ten clusters of these homes would make up a village, providing 100 children a home, hope , and a future; 3) ten such villages would provide 1,000 children a home, and would include schools, vocational and recreational areas, clinics, and chapels.
We give 10% of our proceeds to help Hope House provide food for their children.
